Refining of oil and separation of gas and gas liquids, the production of new refined products with more challenging specifications and ever-increasing environmental regulations will create downstream technical and market opportunities. Global demand for refined products for transportation fuels is rapidly growing and the production of gas and gas liquids for supply and global markets is anticipated to grow well into the century as our “age of abundance” in the US oil and gas segment will place the US as a world leader in oil and gas production. The advanced integration of the oil and gas downstream with the petrochemicals market is especially opportunistic and our nearby gulf coast region and stakeholders have some of the most complex and integrated operations globally. Global leadership in all aspects of downstream will require all disciplines of the Energy and Environment Initiative.
